The Procurement Assistant plays a vital role in supporting the procurement team by ensuring the efficient acquisition of goods and services necessary for the organisation's operations. This position involves collaborating with suppliers, managing purchase orders, and maintaining accurate records within procurement systems. The ideal candidate will possess strong negotiation skills and a keen understanding of logistics and supply chain management.
Duties
- Assist in the preparation and processing of purchase orders to ensure timely delivery of goods.
- Negotiate with suppliers to secure favourable terms and pricing.
- Maintain accurate records of procurement activities, including supplier contracts and purchase orders.
- Collaborate with logistics teams to coordinate the delivery of products and resolve any supply chain issues.
- Utilise procurement systems such as SAP ERP, Oracle EBS, or AS400 to track orders and inventory levels.
- Support the procurement team in evaluating supplier performance and identifying opportunities for improvement.
- Conduct market research to identify potential new suppliers and assess their capabilities.
Experience
- Previous experience in a procurement or supply chain role is desirable, but not essential.
- Familiarity with procurement software systems such as SAP, Oracle EBS, or AS400 is advantageous.
- Strong negotiation skills with the ability to build relationships with suppliers.
- Knowledge of logistics processes and supply chain management principles.
- Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel for data analysis and reporting.
