Heriot-Watt University is a public research university based in Edinburgh, Scotland. It was established in 1821 as the School of Arts of Edinburgh, the world's first mechanics' institute, and subsequently granted university status by royal charter in 1966. It is the eighth-oldest higher education institution in the United Kingdom. The name Heriot-Watt was taken from Scottish inventor James Watt and Scottish philanthropist and goldsmith George Heriot.

  • The School of School of Energy, Geoscience, Infrastructure and Society has an exciting opportunity for a Modern Apprentice (Biology) Technician to develop their skills within the Lyell Centre technical team.
  • You will be involved with the day-to-day running of the aquarium facility, as well as other laboratory-based analyses across the environmental research laboratory facilities of the Lyell Centre and during fieldwork campaigns.
  • Under instruction from the Technical Services Manager and Senior Technicians, the successful candidate will receive on-the-job training in the workplace.
