From one store in Liverpool, Home Bargains has become a national retailer, and one of the fastest growing companies in the UK.
How does a local store with a modest customer base go on to serve four million customers per week? Tom Morris opened the first Home Bargains (then Home and Bargain) store in 1976, but was no stranger to retail.
As a third generation shopkeeper, his parents and grandparents were Liverpool based shopkeepers, hard-work was instilled in Tom from an early age.
Tom's parent's approach to selling products at the best possible price and giving the customer a great experience was always the Morris way of doing business.
The supply of products was certainly more limited in those days, but no problem, If Toms parents could not source them at the right price they just made them themselves, with a bit of help from the kids: Tom and his six siblings.
From dolls houses to Batman suits, their homemade toys would fly off the shelves, straight in to their handmade shopping bags.
