Theatre Royal Dumfries
Home to The Guild of Players, the Theatre Royal (the oldest working theatre in Scotland) is in the heart of Dumfries and first opened its doors in 1792. It has strong associations with the renowned Scottish poet Robert Burns, who wrote several pieces specifically for its stage.
Attend one of our world-class touring productions presented throughout the year with everything from live music, to stand up comedy and theatrical dramas, ensuring that local communities have access to the best performing arts shows in their town.
Our bar opens 1 hour before the show. Come along and enjoy a variety of beverages, soft drinks and snacks.
The Guild of Players presents a regular season of four shows, as well as a family-friendly Christmas pantomime.

- We are seeking a talented and motivated individual to join the small paid staff team, working alongside our Board, Theatre Director and our dedicated volunteers.
- The Marketing Officer will lead in the creation & delivery of all marketing activities for the Theatre Royal Dumfries, managing our advertising, print design, website content, and social media presence.
- You will also be advertising incoming & home-produced professional and community shows including our resident amateur theatre company- the Guild of Players.
