Project Information Officer

The British Energy Security Strategy set out the Government's ambition to connect up to 50GW of offshore generation to the electricity network by 2030. Facilitating this ambition will require significant reinforcements to the onshore electricity transmission network. National Grid Strategic Infrastructure will make this happen.

Here at National Grid, we connect homes and businesses to power, making sure supply and demand match each other. We make sure the lights are on in schools, operating theatres, and sporting arenas; we’re thousands of people working on behalf of millions of people.

Our investment in Strategic Infrastructure via the Great Grid Upgrade will mean more home grown power, greater energy security and a cleaner future.

We are recruiting for a Project Information Officer to join our PMO team, where you will be involved in our Eastern Green Links (EGL) projects across Scotland.

This role is based in Central Glasgow with a hybrid working approach, and we’re happy to discuss flexible working arrangements to help make this role work for you.

Job Purpose

The Eastern Green Links (EGL) programme is a series of multi-billion-pound infrastructure projects delivered through a joint venture between National Grid and Scottish Transmission Owners. These projects focus on developing high-voltage direct current (HVDC) subsea links, enabling the efficient transfer of renewable electricity from Scotland to key demand centres across Great Britain.

As part of the Project Services function, this role is vital in supporting the successful delivery of these projects through effective information control. You’ll be responsible for ensuring project documentation is managed, compliant, and accessible across all stages of the lifecycle. Working within a regulated environment, you’ll help maintain the integrity and traceability of critical project information, while promoting a strong culture of safety and adherence to safe working practices.

What You'll Do

  • Administer and maintain document control systems, ensuring all project documentation is accurately recorded, stored, and easily retrievable.
  • Ensure compliance with National Grid, Joint Venture, and regulatory standards, including CDM Health & Safety file requirements.
  • Collaborate with project teams and stakeholders to ensure the smooth flow of up-to-date information and documentation.
  • Manage key document registers, including RAMS, drawings, and other critical project records, providing regular updates.
  • Conduct audits of document control processes, identifying improvements and confidently challenging non-compliance.
  • Provide training and guidance to project team members on document control systems and best practices.

About you

  • Experience managing document control systems within complex projects.
  • Experience using IT tools such as Excel, Word, SharePoint, and AutoDesk (or similar platforms).
  • Highly organised individual, with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Strong communication skills and stakeholder management.
  • You understand the importance of health and safety in project delivery and recognise the critical role document control plays in supporting compliance and safe operations.

What You'll get

A competitive salary between £42,781 – £46,564 – dependent on capability.

As well as your base salary, you will receive a bonus based on personal and company performance and a competitive contributory pension scheme where we will double match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%. You will also have access to a number of flexible benefits such as a share incentive plan, salary sacrifice car and technology schemes, support via employee assistance lines and matched charity giving to name a few.

This role closes on 1st of July at 23:59, however we encourage candidates to submit their application as early as possible and not wait until the published closing date as this can vary.

However, in exceptional circumstances where there is a clear and demonstrable need for specialist skills that cannot be sourced from the local labour market, National Grid may consider offering sponsorship.
