Commercial Analyst

We have an exciting temporary opportunity for a Commercial Analyst to join NRS Capability: Commercial at Dounreay, supporting the acquisition of goods and services that enable delivery of the site’s lifetime plan. This is a great opportunity for someone with a strong business background who’s ready to apply their skills in a commercial environment, while gaining valuable experience within a complex public sector setting.

What you'll be doing:

In this role you will support project teams by executing commercial, procurement and supply chain strategies across low value and low risk requirements, helping to shape contract strategies, guide projects through sanctioning and validation processes, and manage contracts through delivery. You’ll contribute to contractor selection and award in line with EU Procurement Directives, NDA and DSRL procedures, support the management of variations, claims and disputes, and ensure commercial activities align with wider NDA policies on supply chain development, collaboration and socio-economic impact. Alongside this, you will produce high-quality reports and control metrics, maintain accurate procurement data within relevant systems, and undertake associated management appointment responsibilities.
  • Deliver procurement activity that achieves best overall value for money
  • Support contract strategy, award and delivery for project requirements
  • Ensure compliance with legal, NDA and Dounreay governance frameworks
  • Provide clear reporting, data management and commercial insight
What you'll bring:
You will bring a relevant qualification (HNC or equivalent) in Science, Engineering or Business, or comparable experience, alongside sound administrative skills and a keen interest in commercial or procurement activity. Experience in commercial environments, NEC3/4 contract management or public sector procurement would be advantageous but is not essential, as we welcome motivated candidates looking to develop. You’ll be organised, deadline-driven and quality-focused, with strong planning, communication and interpersonal skills that enable you to work effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Relevant qualification or equivalent practical experience
  • Strong organisational, planning and administrative capability
  • Clear communicator with effective interpersonal skills
  • Able to deliver quality outcomes to agreed timescales
  • Post specific capability assessment
If you’re looking for a meaningful role with variety, responsibility and the chance to develop professionally, we’d love to hear from you.

We are looking to hold interviews week commencing Monday 8 June 2026, however, please note that this vacancy may close earlier than the stated deadline should we receive a high volume of applications, so we encourage you to submit your application as soon as possible.

If you require assistance at any point during the recruitment process contact careers@dounreay.nrservices.uk at the appropriate time so we can make any necessary, reasonable adjustment.

Some reasons we think you'll love it here:

Please note: All successful candidates who do not already hold security clearance will need to provide proof of identity, eligibility to work in the UK, and employment/education history (typically covering the last 3–5 years) in line with NRS Baseline Security requirements. Some roles may also require full Security Clearance, which involves additional checks. For details, please refer to the Defence Business Services National Security Vetting (DBS NSV) guidance.
