Job description

SLC is offering an exciting opportunity for 2 skilled Project Managers on a fixed term contract basis to lead the delivery of business change and technology projects that have real impact across the organisation. You will be responsible for ensuring successful project outcomes by applying robust governance, monitoring progress, and effectively managing risks, issues, and dependencies.

The role involves coordinating stakeholders and suppliers to support smooth project delivery and ensuring the business is fully prepared for change. You will also play an active role in embedding best practice by contributing experience, insight, and lessons learned to our project management community.

We?re looking for experienced Project Managers with a strong track record of delivering complex initiatives. You?ll bring experience applying recognised project management methodologies, confidently engaging and influencing senior stakeholders in challenging environments, and managing strategic partners and suppliers. A clear communicator and effective influencer, you?ll be adaptable, proactive and resilient, with experience of transformation or technology/solution transition desirable.

These roles are most suited to experienced Project Managers who have extensive experience across a wide range of projects, not solely IT projects. We are particularly keen to hear from candidates who understand working within the Public sector environment. In addition, one contract is likely to support our transition from a bespoke GDPR technical solution to Salesforce so experience in this area may be desirable.

Person specification

  • Experience of delivering IT-based systems and project solutions

  • Experience of effectively managing and controlling project budgets

  • Experience of managing internal and external suppliers and in leading multi-discipline teams

  • Excellent written/verbal communication and presentation skills with experience of reporting to a senior audience

  • Effective stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build relationships by communicating, influencing and negotiating at all levels with technical and business teams, project stakeholders and sponsors

  • Focus on continuous improvement and developing working practices, for self and others

  • Self-motivated and highly organised with strong attention to detail

  • Uses initiative to resolve issues and is confident in ability to make decisions

  • Strong MS Office suite knowledge, including Excel, PowerPoint and MS Project

Benefits

Alongside your salary of £61,950, Student Loans Company contributes £17,946 towards you being a member of the Civil Service Defined Benefit Pension scheme. Find out what benefits a Civil Service Pension provides.

SLC offer a blended working model which will typically be 2 days in the office and 3 days from home.

  • Enhanced company sick pay and family leave including maternity, paternity and adoption

  • Contributory lifestyle benefit options including discounts at hundreds of retailers, cycle to work scheme, access to the Civil Service Sports and Leisure Club for discounted gym memberships, and an optional dental insurance scheme
