The Role
As a member of our Port team, you'll play a vital role in delivering an outstanding experience for all our customers - whether they're residents, UK visitors, international travellers, or commercial clients.
This is a varied, hands-on role combining customer service with operational, safety and security responsibilities. From assisting with vessel movements to maintaining the pier environment, you'll help ensure out ports run smoothly, safely, and to the high standards our customers expect.
Working Pattern
You'll work a varied shift pattern, working 3 days over 7, including weekends, bank holidays and evenings. Shifts may involve early starts or finishing after the last vessel departs.
Key Responsibilities
Ticketing and Sales:

Process ticket sales accurately and efficiently
- Support customers in selecting appropriate tickets
- Operate ticketing systems and issue tickets
Customer Service:

Deliver excellent customer service at all times
- Respond to enquiries, resolve issues, and provide guidance
- Support customers with booking amendments, cancellations, and onward travel during disruptions
Cash Handling:

Handle cash and card transactions
- Issue receipts accurately
Data & Administration:

Input customer and ticketing data accurately
- Record and communicate sailing statistics
Vessel Operations:

Assist with safe and secure vessel mooring in line with procedures
Maintenance & Cleaning:

Carry out routine cleaning and upkeep of the pier
- Report maintenance issues or safety concerns
Equipment Operation:

Operate equipment such as forklifts and vans
- Follow correct procedures for cargo and equipment handling
Safety & Security:

Monitor the pier to ensure safety and security
- Uphold safety regulations and follow emergency procedures
General Duties:

Support the Port Manager with any additional requirements
