Job Requirements/Description

Are you a passionate and skilled vet looking for a rewarding career in a supportive, independent practice?

If you are a vet who thrives on the variety of emergency work but still wants a predictable life when the sun is up, we have the ideal opportunity for you. We are a proud independent small animal practice with three busy, well-equipped branches in the stunning coastal towns of Broughty Ferry, Carnoustie, and Arbroath. Because we pride ourselves on providing our own 24-hour care, we are looking for a dedicated vet to join our internal night rotation and help us maintain our high standard of around-the-clock service.

We’ve designed our 5-week rotating schedule to offer a healthy mix of consistency and downtime. For the first three weeks of the cycle, you’ll stay connected with the wider team by working four day shifts across the five weekdays, with manageable 8-hour shifts between 08:00 and 21:00. This is followed by a dedicated night block in weeks four and five, where you’ll cover seven night shifts spread over 14 days. These 11-hour shifts run from 20:30 to 08:30, ensuring our patients are never without a friendly, familiar face, while giving you significant blocks of time off to recharge.

What truly sets us apart is our philosophy on staffing. We believe in being overstaffed by design. By maintaining a large team of 17 vets, we ensure that there is always someone to lean on, creating a clinically supportive and minimal-stress environment. We understand that life doesn’t always fit into a neat box, so we are incredibly flexible when it comes to working around family commitments or personal needs. Whether you are balancing childcare or just looking for a better rhythm, we take pride in being a family-friendly practice that treats our staff with the same care we give our patients.

As an independent practice, we offer you the clinical freedom. There are no corporate targets or sales goals here; we simply want you to provide the best possible healthcare for the animals in our care. With a diverse caseload and a team with varied interests in orthopaedics, imaging, and medicine, you’ll have the equipment and the expertise behind you to handle anything the night throws your way. If you’re looking for a rewarding role in a beautiful part of the world with a team that truly has your back, we would love to hear from you.
